As the 10th house for Kumbha ascendant is Vrischika, a sign that is a favourite to Kethu and also since he gains subathuva (beneficence) here, Kethu’s placement in the 10th house gives good results. There would be favourable changes during the dasa (major period) of Kethu.
As the 11th house, a “upachaya” house owned by Guru, where Kethu is bound to give favours and since Kethu attains subathuva (beneficence) in Dhanu and when Guru, the owner of the house, also becomes powerful, then Kethu placed here would shower favours on to the native.
Further, Kethu placed here with subathuva (beneficence) along with the association of Guru and would give a spiritual inclination, god-fearing attitude and the ability to receive the blessings of the almighty, to the native.
When a powerful Guru along with Sani, that has attained subathuva (beneficence), is connected to Kethu, then the native would work for a religious organisation or work near a religious place or be a trader of religious items. But, the placement of Kethu here, would mean that Rahu is in the fifth house, leading to “putra dosha” (evil effects related to children) to the native.
Kethu’s placement in the 12th house (Makara) is also a favourable disposition. I have indicated in the earlier articles that Kethu placed in the house of expenditure would give wealth along with wisdom together. An exalted Guru, placed in Kataka, aspecting the Kethu placed here, would be a favourable configuration.
As this 12th house is also owned by the ascendant lord, Sani and since it would denote a foreign land and happens to be a moveable sign indicating travel to a foreign land, Kethu in Makara would connect the native to other states/other countries. A subathuva (beneficial) Kethu placed in a moveable sign like Makara, would cause the native to travel abroad either for education or for employment.
Sani, the ascendant lord, when associated with Kethu here along with an aspect or contact with Guru or a debilitated Guru here gets the association of Sani and Kethu, would bestow religious inclinations to the native. During the dasas (major periods) of Guru, Sani and Kethu, the spiritual indulgence of the native would be at its peak. Specifically, this configuration would ensure the native to have a special devotion towards Lord Shiva.
So far, we have seen the effects of Kethu to the natives belonging to the 11 ascendant signs. To conclude we will look at Meena.
As Kethu is a friend of Guru, the lord of Meena, he is destined to give favourable results to the natives born in Meena. To the Meena natives, Kethu placed in the ascendant along with Guru or Chandra, the 5th lord or Sani would attribute faith in god, religious inclination, clarity in the knowledge about almighty etc.
Though, Kethu placed in ascendant would give favourable results, correspondingly as Rahu would occupy the 7th house, the native would face problems in marital life. Generally, when Rahu-Kethu is associated with the “Dharmakarmadhipathis” (lord of fortune and profession, 9th and 10th lords) of the ascendant, they would give good results. They should never get the association of the “ashtama-badhakadhipathis” (8th lord and lord of obstructions).
As per this rule, Kethu would bestow favourable effects when associated with Guru, Mangal and Chandra. Association of Kethu with Sukra, Budha and Sani would not give favours.
Kethu’s placement in the 2nd house (Mesha) is not good. Kethu placed here, would cause deteriorations in marital life. If Mangal is also have a maleficent strength, then the native would have a delayed marriage, more than one marriage, loss of peace through spouse etc.
Kethu’s placement in the 3rd house (Rishaba) gives average results. Only when Sukra attains suba(beneficial) strength would the Kethu in the 3rd house give good results to the natives born in Meena ascendant. As the 4th house (Mithuna) is an angular house, Kethu placed here would cause deteriorations with respect to house, vehicle, mother and education during his dasa/bhukti (major/sub periods) before giving favourable effects.
As the 5th house (Kataka) is a trinal house in a moveable sign, Kethu placed here would give beneficial results like Chandra. But, nevertheless Chandra, the lord of the house, should be with a beneficial strength.
As per the rule that Rahu-Kethu placed in Angular/Trinal houses would spoil the houses first before giving the desired results, there would be “puthra dosha”(flaws with respect to children). Effects like hurdles for a male progeny or late bearing of children could be expected.
Kethu in the 6th house (Simha) would result in a debt-free, disease-free and enemy-free life. The native would conquer opposition. The evil effects like debt, disease etc. strongly attributed by the lord of the 6th house to the other ascendants, will not be bestowed by Surya to the Meena ascendants.
This is because Surya is a close friend of the ascendant lord, Guru. Kethu, that is expected to give the results of the house in toto, would not give unfavourable results, when placed in Simha, unless he gets the contact of the “ashtama-badhakadhipathis” (8th lord and lord of obstructions), being Sukra and Budha.
As the 7th house is favourable in giving subathuva (beneficence) to Kethu and since this also happens to be an angular house, he would cause difficulties in marital life, but give wealth in abundance. During the dasa of Kethu placed here, the native would receive large sums of money. Kanya Kethu would give more benefits, when he gets the association of Guru and Mangal.
Kethu in Tula (8th house) would give opportunities for the natives to travel to far places during his dasa /bhukti. As eight and Kethu are known to cause changes, during the dasa/bhukti of Kethu, the native would undergo changes from his present status.
Whether this change is favourable or unfavourable depends on other aspects like the strength of the ascendant lord or the sookshma (intricate) strength of Kethu.
As, this house is owned by a benefic, major disturbances need not be envisaged by natives born in Meena. But depending on the status of Sukra, the native would be affected through problems, quarrels and disputes inflicted by women. Here, my reference to women denotes a number of relationships like mother, wife, elder sister, younger sister, daughter, lover or girl-friend.
When Kethu is placed in the 8th house, with Guru and Mangal, the “Dharmakarmadhipathis”(lord of fortune and profession, 9th and 10th lords) of the ascendant get weakened, then during his dasa, he would cause the native to pursue in women related areas or in the other significations of Sukra and give losses.
As indicated several times before, the lords of 6th and 8th houses should not become more powerful more than the ascendant lord in any horoscope. Also, as indicated by our sages that natural enemies like Guru-Sukra and Surya, Chandra-Sani when happen to the lord of the ascendant, then the inimical planet should not become stronger.
As per this tenement, Sukra becoming powerful more than Guru would not give favourable results to Meena ascendants. If such a situation happens and Kethu is placed in the 8th house, then good results cannot be expected from Kethu during his dasa/bhukti.
If we consider the status of Kethu’s placement in the 9th house(Vrischik) to Meena, as this house is Vrischika, also the house of fortune and also since Kethu would give results like Mangal, excellent results could be expected from Kethu placed here.
As the same time, Kethu, during his dasa, would give results only after affecting father and paternal-related issues. If Kethu placed here, gains the association of Guru and Mangal, the “Dharma-karmadhipathis” (lord of fortune and profession, 9th and 10th lords) of the ascendant, then the gains would be multifold.
Kethu’s placement in the 10th house is also favourable. Kethu in 10th, results in encouraging the native in religion related areas or in electrical or medical shop or in other allied branches of medicine. If Guru, the ascendant lord, is also powerful then the dasa of Kethu would give favours.
As indicated earlier for the other ascendants, Kethu placed here with the association of Guru/Sani would give the native an inclination towards religious activities. Kethu placed in the 11th house to the natives born in Meena ascendant would give extraordinary results. As this house is an “upachaya house” and also happens to be a moveable sign, Kethu placed here would give good results to the natives during his dasa.
When Kethu is placed here, if Sani is not conjoined with him and is placed in the 12th house (with ownership status) or is exalted in the 8th house, then the natives would gain wealth through concealed dealings during his dasa.
Kethu in the 12th house (Kumbha) would also give favourable results to the natives born in Meena ascendant. The favours would magnify, when he gains the association or aspect of Guru and/or Mangal. Our scriptures say that when Kethu is placed here, then the native would gain salvation or would not have to be born once again.
Kethu, that keeps one in the field of Medicine…
As medicine is also one amongst the significations of Kethu, in some situations when Kethu is placed in the 10th house or is associated with the 10th house would give a medical profession.
Mangal is the primary planet significator for medicine. It is an astrological rule that when a powerful Mangal gets connected with the 10th house with respect to ascendant or the moon sign, then the native would become a doctor.
Depending on the grade of the suba (beneficial) strength of Mangal, one would become a doctor (MBBS) of allopathy or siddha medicine or homeopathy or a dentist or an ophthalmologist or be a physiotherapist if Mangal is in the 2nd grade of subathuva (beneficence).
As Kethu behaves like Mangal, under some circumstances, Kethu, that has attained subathuva (beneficence) is placed in 10th house or is conjoined with the 10th lord or aspected by the 10th lord or gets connected in some way with the 10th house of either ascendant or the moon sign, then depending on the strength of Mangal, he would make the native a doctor or a nurse or a compounder or atleast earn through a medical shop.
As Rahu-Kethu, when associated with the house of profession, would cause the native to constantly keep moving in his job, it could be seen that most of the medical representatives would have the association of Kethu with their 10th houses in their horoscopes.
A further subtlety is that when the ascendant lord is weakened and the lord of moon sign gains prominence in any horoscope or when ascendant and moon sign have been weakened in a horoscope and if there is any planet that is singularly stronger in the main horoscope and navamsa (9th divisional chart), then he would have more authority on the native and the profession of the native would be decided as per the planet’s significations.
